- CalmKin is a family-safety tool for a parent and that parent\u2019s minor child. Both parties consent at install.
- Using CalmKin to monitor adults — partners, employees, friends — is forbidden and grounds for immediate termination.
- CalmKin is a tool, not a guarantee. We use the best language models available to spot harm patterns; we will sometimes miss things and sometimes flag things we shouldn\u2019t. It is not a substitute for being a present parent or for professional clinical judgement.
- You can cancel and delete everything at any time. We will email you to confirm deletion.
- Disputes go to binding arbitration in your country of residence. EU and UK consumer rights apply where applicable.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and the legal parent or guardian of the minor whose device CalmKin is installed on. Joint custody arrangements require both legal guardians to agree to use the product on their shared child\u2019s devices.
2. Acceptable use
CalmKin may be used only on devices owned and used by the user\u2019s minor child. You may not install CalmKin on the device of any adult, on a device used by a child who is not your dependent, or on any device for which you do not have the legal right to set safety controls. Doing so violates these terms and may violate the laws of your jurisdiction.
3. The service
CalmKin is a software service that uses on-device and cloud-hosted language models to read text-based content on apps you connect, identify patterns indicative of online harm to children, and notify you. We do not guarantee detection of any specific category of harm and we do not guarantee absence of false positives. The service is offered "as is" within the limits of consumer protection law in your jurisdiction.
4. Privacy
The handling of your family\u2019s data is governed by our Privacy Commitment, which is incorporated by reference into these terms. In short: we don\u2019t store conversation contents, we don\u2019t sell or share data, we delete on request within 7 days.
5. Subscription and cancellation
CalmKin is a subscription service. You can cancel at any time, effective at the end of the current billing period. Founding-family rates are honoured indefinitely as long as the subscription is uninterrupted. Refunds for unused time are provided on a pro-rata basis where required by your local consumer law.
6. Crisis and clinical responsibility
CalmKin is not a clinical service, an emergency service, or a substitute for professional mental health care. Where CalmKin surfaces a serious safety pattern, we provide information and link to local crisis resources; the responsibility for acting on that information remains with you as the parent. In jurisdictions where we are mandated reporters of certain content (such as child sexual abuse imagery), we will report as required by law.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable consumer law, CalmKin\u2019s aggregate liability under these terms is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months prior to the claim. This limitation does not apply where prohibited by local consumer protection laws.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes are notified by email at least 30 days before they take effect. You may cancel before they take effect if you do not agree.
